The Jury


About the prize. The John P. McNulty Prize seeks to inspire young people from around the world to make a real difference in their communities by recognizing the very best in high-impact leadership.

The Prize aims to galvanize efforts to address the foremost social, economic and political challenges of our time by recognizing the best of the exceptional leadership projects undertaken by the Fellows of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.

The winner of the John P. McNulty Prize will receive a $100,000 award to further his or her leadership project. The Prize will be paid directly to the project over two years and is contingent upon continued progress. Each of the other finalists will receive a $10,000 award.

ELIGIBILiTY

All Aspen Global Leadership Network Fellows with active projects underway for at least two years that have a demonstrated record of success are encouraged to enter the competition. Submissions must be, or have substantially evolved from, the leadership project declared by a fellow, during their Aspen fellowship. Joint projects will be accepted.

Those who have previously applied are encouraged to reapply if the creativity, impact and lasting contribution of their project has significantly expanded. 2009 Finalists are asked to take one year off before reapplying.

CRITERIA

Creativity
How does the project reflect innovative or unique approaches to addressing issues / solving problems? How is the implementation exceptional?

Impact
Describe the impact of your project on individuals and/or the community. Indicate the criteria used for measuring your project's achievements. Where possible include number of people reached, financial impact and organizations helped. Describe the framework by which you are assessing your impact.

Lasting Contribution
What is the potential and /or evidence of the long-term impact of this project? What are the next steps? Is there evidence that your project can serve as a prototype for others? What is your vision for the future?

SELECTION

Final selection of the Prize will be made by an international panel comprised of prominent entrepreneurs, academics, philanthropic leaders and public figures.

The prize will be awarded November 4, 2010 at the 27th annual awards dinner of the Aspen Institute.
